Tara Sanctuary - Anciant Healing Wisdom for The Modern World
“The mission of medicine could be likened to the purpose of life,
to further freedom: freedom from discomfort, pain and suffering;
and the freedom to experience happiness, even bliss.”

Life Style Counseling

As a patient, it is important to begin the work of understanding the intimate connection between daily activity and the development of "dis-ease".

Lifestyle counseling includes recommendations about daily habits, exercise, spiritual practice, relationships, job related difficulties and any contemplated life changes such as taking a new job or moving. Because all of these parts of a person’s life have a direct impact on their health - they must be addressed.

In Chinese medicine modifying behavior on the basis of seasonal energy is important also. Because the seasons bring very different environmental conditions, they require very different activity on our part.
For example, Spring is time for new growth, setting plans for new activities for the year, beginning anew  with those around us and freshening the space we live in...

Feng Shui Counseling
An ancient art originated in China some 3,000-3500 years ago, is a mind set of arranging one’s environment so that there is balance and harmony of energy.

Harnessing good energy is considered most auspicious so the goal of Feng Shui is to keep positive energy meandering like a stream.

This art form has gained some prominence in the United States over the last 30 years, particularly in relation to the home.

Simply Feng Shui puts one in balance within and outside the home when furniture’s, fixtures, lighting, colors of all array, textures and shapes are positioned to attract the forces that produce positive energy to flow softly and direct this energy to the well being of the homes occupant.

Sound Healing
The use of sound and music as a means to alter brain state has a long history, as well as a scientifically documented basis.

Traditional Tibetan Singing Bowls & Tibetan Prayer Chimes

Traditionally Tibetan singing bowls are used as a practical tool of letting go in the practice of meditation.
The prayer chimes are traditionally used to begin and end a meditation or a Dharma talk.
In our practice they are played for just a few minutes,to capture the attention of the child. Children love the slowly fading sound of singing metal they become silent and still and follow it to the end. This provides a point of focus that quiets and relaxes the mind before the Shonishin treatment (Japanese Pediatric  Acupuncture)

Acutonics: Sound Healing with tuning fork

Acutonics is an integrated system of healing that incorporates ancient Taoist teachings of the meridians, pre-meridians and the immortal body with sound.

I mostly use it on children. Before the Shonishin treatment (Japanese Pediatric Acupuncture), physically, the child's body is tuned to the "OM" vibration by using an "136.1 HZ" tuning fork directly on the child's body and acupressure points. The child enters a state of balanced wholeness ideal for healing.

Helps center the body and mind when placed on the rib heads, thoracic vertebra, sternum, sacrum and illiums. applying the tuning fork to the spinal processes of the back and/or directly onto the sacrum (or any bone in the body we wish to bring the harmonic resonance of the "OM" vibration) a state of deep relaxation in seconds is achieved with the primordial vibrations of “OM.”
